midwest devils (mini jam version)

A very short road trip demon hunting visual novel that takes place in an apocalyptic modern fantasy Midwest American setting (it’s more South in my mind but Midwest is catchier). Whew, that's a lot of adjectives. Join a demon hunter called Bane as he travels across lands once known as States, hunting down demons along the way. No need for chants or incense, bullets and brute force are enough to kill these demons.

I didn’t manage my time well at all with this so I had to condense the story a whole ton to make it more manageable to do. So yeah, it's a bit detail minimal story-wise. I intend to redo this game later/separately and flesh it out a lot more, but for now, here’s a small taste? This was made for the Road Trip Jam Game 2025 and it’s my first jam!!! And my first game I’ve published that I’ve put a lot of effort into! And first Renpy game!! x3 combo??

Probably should mention the characters are from a preexisting story of mine, so unfortunately certain details about them can't be explained. Hopefully, it's not too confusing. Their names are also...not  their real names...just temporary names that stuck too long for me to change, hence they sound silly.

Features:

• a few interactive choices cuz I didn’t have time to do the rest!
• rushed sketchy art! (i want to add CGs and more expression sprites but i'll have to do that later)
• spooky looking bad guys! (I think. Or they look stupid. Up to you!)
• no soundtrack cuz i aint that good!
• default renpy ui! (I know, really boring. But I didn’t have the time or energy to change it ;-;)
• possibly some typos!

Warning: periodic strong language, written (and some drawn) monster-like violence and gore, and disturbing imagery (body horror and creepy monsters). While this might not be considered an adult game (no sexual content), this game wasn't created with kiddo's in mind. Viewer discretion is advised.
